Since1963, Dixon has published over 400 stories in such magazines as the Paris Review, Harper's, The Atlantic Monthly and Playboy. This extraordinary feat works out, roughly, to one published story a month. He has published, on average, one book a year since his first collection, No Relief, appeared in 1976. Dixon has been recognized with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Pushcart Prize, an O. Henry Award and by the American Academy-Institute for Arts and Letters. Two recent novels, Frog and Interstate, have each been nominated for the National Book Award. Stephen Dixon may well be the most decorated unknown writer in America.
