L.C. Smith & Brothers was formed in 1903 and exclusively built desktop typewriters. In 1926, the company merged with the neighboring portable manufacturer- Corona Company, maker of the famous folding No. 3 portables.
After the merger, desktops and portables continued to have the L.C. Smith and Corona names displayed prominently on the paper tables, but later models carried the LC Smith & Corona label only.
