Remington acquired the Noiseless Typewriter Company in 1924, and along with the "noiseless" portables, also produced some fine desktop models. The Noiseless Standard is one of the most attractive in the line, a sturdy desktop machine with a very sleek black housing. The Standard has a full array of features for business or personal correspondence and writing use, including the touch regulator, which adjusts the force of the type bars' impact. Advertising for these machines emphasized the harmful and irritating effects of noise, and the superiority of quiet machines for productivity in the office.
